A horde of some of leather-clad engine-revving Hells Angels were perfectly well-behaved during their annual run in the Territory.
Organised Crime, Intelligence and Capability Commander Matt Hollamby said police were happy with the behaviour of the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang last month.
Hundreds of Hells Angels members made their way up the Stuart Highway to Darwin on Saturday, September 24.
For three days police conducted “a highly visible operation” in Darwin to monitor for any misbehaving members in the notorious gang, Mr Hollamby said.
“NT Police take a proactive approach to engaging with these gangs,” Mr Hollamby said.
A combined law enforcement operation pulled over vehicles and bikes heading from the Girraween club house on Saturday.
Officers conducted breath tests and registration checks, while also photographing all members on the run.
Mr Hollamby said police breath-tested 110 people and conducted 82 drug tests.
“All returned negative results,” he said.
Mr Hollamby said two bikie members were arrested, one for a traffic offence and another for a summary offence.
The Territory has banned bikie members from wearing their colours or anything that identifies their club in licenced premises.
Staff at licensed venues are required to ask bikies to remove any clothing or items that identify their club, and if that is refused they must ask the gang member to leave.
Mr Hollamby said police checked 59 licensed premises, and issued two cautions for minor breaches.
“Overall, police were happy with the behaviour of the group as they made their way up to Darwin,” he said.
“(Police) will continue to engage with its members to ensure the safety of riders and the wider community. “
