Another person has been arrested over the alleged kidnapping of Darwin five-year-old Grace Hughes.

A fifth person has been arrested over the kidnapping of Darwin five-year-old Grace Hughes.

NT Police arrested a 48-year-old woman and charged her with one count of abduction of a child under 16 years.

She was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on September 6.

Police allege Grace was taken from a supervised parental visit at an address at Hidden Valley Rd, Berrimah at 1pm on August 7.

A nationwide search worked to find Grace and her mother, Laura Hinks. After nearly a fortnight the five-year-old was handed in to Darwin police.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Beer said investigations remain ongoing into the group that allegedly helped Grace’s mother hide her daughter for 12 days.

“This is now the fifth arrest in relation to the 5-year-olds abduction, investigations remain ongoing,” Sergeant Beer said.

“Police will continue to work tirelessly to ensure everyone involved faces court.”

Police have alleged a group of people was pushing its “own agendas and own ideologies” by helping hide Grace and her mother.

The latest arrest follows charges against a 67-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man on Thursday.

To date, Grace’s mother Laura Hinks and sovereign citizen Juliet Marie Oldroyd have faced court, and were both granted bail.

THURS AUG 25: POLICE have charged two more people allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Darwin five-year-old Grace Hughes, with a warning that more arrests will follow.

NT Police confirmed a 67-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man were each charged with one count of abduction of a child under 16 years.

The pair were granted bail and will appear at Darwin Local Court on October 26.

Police allege Grace was taken from a supervised parental visit at an address at Hidden Valley Rd, Berrimah at 1pm on August 7.

For 12 days a nationwide search worked to find Grace and her mother, Laura Hinks.

Police alleged a group with their “own agendas and own ideologies” had claimed they were helping hide Grace and her mother.

On August 19 Grace was handed in to Darwin police, allegedly by a member of the ‘conspiracy’ group.

To date, four people have been charged over the alleged kidnapping, including Grace’s mother Laura Hinks and sovereign citizen Juliet Marie Oldroyd.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jon Beer said investigations were ongoing to identify all those involved in Grace’s abduction.

Police would again like to thank the community who assisted and the other policing jurisdictions, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, who provided vital support,” Sergeant Beer said.
