TWO outlaw bikie gang members and their associate who stabbed a rival gang member’s girlfriend’s dog to death and ransacked her bedroom have pleaded guilty to a string of charges following the home invasion.

Patched Mongols members, Shane Mulhall and Patrick Mulhall, and hanger on, Brandt Graham, each pleaded guilty in the Darwin Local Court on Thursday to two counts of animal cruelty as well as unlawful entry and property damage.

The court heard the trio drove to the Driver home of Hells Angels sergeant-at-arms Phil O’Shea’s girlfriend, Skylie Monck, in February, to “confront” the rival gang member.

Once there, the group called out to “Phil” and after receiving no response, “ransacked” the main bedroom and carved the letters “MFFM” into the door — an acronym for “Mongols Forever, Forever Mongols”.

One of the trio, then walked to the rear patio where he approached Ms Monck’s two dogs, King and Coco, and stabbed each of them to the shoulder with a knife.

The group then proceeded to smash the windscreen of a car parked in the driveway and drove their own vehicle through the front gate and into the other car, causing significant damage, before driving away.

When Ms Monck returned home, she found Coco “lying dead in a pool of her own blood”, while King survived the attack but required veterinary treatment for his injuries.

All three were later arrested, with Graham telling police they had gone to Ms Monck’s house “because O’Shea had challenged Shane Mulhall to a fight”.

In handing Shane Mulhall and Brandt Graham each a two year jail sentence, Chief Judge Elizabeth Morris said they must be punished for their “intimidatory actions”, even if they were “visited upon another gang member, or group of people who often live outside the law”.

“There is, perhaps, a small section of the community who would say ‘Well let these groups who sit outside normal community norms just sort out their own issues and leave everybody else out of it’, but that is not the kind of community we want in the Northern Territory,” she said.

“It is not just that sometimes innocent people can be affected by this sort of offending, it is that it’s not the kind of community that we want to live in where people take actions, and violent actions, into their own hands in relation to perceived wrongs or disputes.

“That kind of violence can fester and grow and it creates a community where everyone can generally feel unsafe if it’s not gone unchecked and unpunished.”

Patrick Mulhall will be sentenced at a later date.
