Emergency services rushed to treat two volunteer firefighters who suffered burns fighting a grass fire on Tuesday.

St John Ambulance paramedics were called to the Livingstone Airstrip along the Stuart Highway about 4.40pm Tuesday with reports a team of paid and volunteer firefighters were battling a out-of-control blaze.

St John Ambulance operations manager Craig Garraway told ABC Radio the two volunteers suffered minor burns and were treated at the scene before they returned to the city.

“Hats off to all the volunteer firefighters and paid firefighters who are out there putting out all these fires that are going berserk,” he said.

About three hours later, St John Ambulance attended a crash on Parap Rd where a woman was hit by a car about 7.40pm.

NT Health said she was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital with a head injury and is in a stable condition.

Missing Central Australian man found safe and well

Alan Norton has been located safe and well by NT Police after an extensive search.

59-year-old Alan Jungari Norton was reported missing from a Larapinta home at the end of the month.

He was described as being 168 centimetres tall with grey/black hair, with one blue and one brown eye and two missing front teeth.

“Alan was reported to have possibly been travelling in a Silver Yaris sedan with NT registration 909-291,” Senior Sergeant Michael Milde said.

“He was wearing a long-sleeved brown shirt, blue jeans and elastic-sided black boots.”

Disturbing act of indecency unfolds on Darwin footpath

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged after allegedly indecently assaulting a person sleeping on a Darwin footpath.

NT Police said the alleged incident occurred on Saturday morning near Gilruth Ave and Gardens Rd in The Gardens.

Two men were sleeping on a footpath in the area when one was allegedly touched about 6.30am.

The man has been charged with performing an act of gross indecency.

The matter will be heard at Darwin Local Court on Monday.

Police are now calling for information from the public.

“Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something, or if you have dashcam footage, to make contact on 131 444,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said.
