A Darwin man allegedly installed onto the vehicle of a woman known to him a GPS tracking device that fed him audio and real-time tracking data, as well as the capability to remotely immobilise the vehicle, police allege.

Winnellie man Immanuel Pastrikos, 42, was expected to appear in Darwin Local Court on Wednesday charged with six offences.

They are attempting to pervert the course of justice, recklessly endangering serious harm, interfering with a vehicle, possess/use a firearm while unlicensed, failing to meet firearm storage requirements, and install/use/maintain a listening device.

In a statement, NT Police said Mr Pastrikos first came to the attention of detectives in March 2024, after a woman reported suspicious behaviour from a man who was known to her.

Mr Pastrikos was arrested, charged with unlawful stalking and possessing a surveillance device for unlawful use, and bailed.

According to the police statement, detectives investigated the woman’s vehicle on June 17 after receiving “further information”.

The examination allegedly located a secreted and hardwired electronic GPS tracker with listening device capabilities and the ability to transmit real time data, as well as the ability to remotely disable the woman’s vehicle.

Officers attended his Sadgroves Cres residence, where they allegedly seized “a number of unused GPS tracking devices, trail cameras, mobile phones and tablets,” as well as two firearms with unsecured ammunition.

He was remanded in police custody to appear before the court on Wednesday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Trent Abbott of the NT Police Serious Crime Section said the alleged actions of Mr Pastrikos were “incredibly invasive and traumatising”.

The tracking device’s immobilisation capabilities could have had “potentially deadly consequences,” he added.

Investigations were continuing to ascertain whether the seized devices revealed the existence of any further alleged victims of Mr Pastrikos.
