The City of Palmerston’s annual youth festival is promising to be “bigger and better” than ever in its seventh year of festivities.
More than 7000 people attended last year’s festival, with new events set to join the program at the SWELL centre in 2024.
The program is packed with an exciting line-up of free events and activities spanning seven days from July 6, kicking off with the Territory’s longest running comicon, Geekfest Top End.
The main attraction for this year is Konnected, a futuristic experience that takes participants on a journey through a honeycomb grid, outer space, underwater scenes and a neon Tron-like world.
Throughout the week, the festival will feature events celebrating NAIDOC, pride, sports, talent and wellbeing.
Each day is packed with activities designed to engage and inspire young people, providing them with opportunities to explore new interests and showcase their talents.
The festival finishes with the Palmerston Youth Festival Wrap Up Party on July 12, featuring an electrifying line-up of performances by DJ sensation CYRIL, young talent CAM.DEN, ex-footballer Mastered and local rapper Yung Milla.
With $25,000 in prizes up for grabs over the seven days, the festival’s competitions are a major highlight.
From cosplay and E-sports to talent shows and raffles, there’s something for everyone, including a mix of pre-registered and random draws.
Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell said the festival would include old favourites “plus new and exciting elements”.
“It’s great to provide these opportunities to our youth, allowing them to engage, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment,” she said.
