A second alleged victimhas filed a restraining order against an embattled former Darwin councillor who is also accused of orchestrating a nine-month-long campaign of abuse, assaults and stalking.

Paul Arnold already faces three counts of breaking a domestic violence order and unlawful stalking, as well as multiple counts of property damage, aggravated assaults and deprivation of personal liberty against a person.

On Tuesday a second domestic violence order was filed in Darwin Local Court in relation to another person for an unrelated incident.

The former councillor and professional photographer was not required to appear and was represented by his lawyer Julie Franz.

“This is unrelated and there’s a high likelihood it will be withdrawn,” Ms Franz said.

It comes two months after the ex-councillor was sensationally arrested at his Smith St Mall gallery and three months after he resigned from the council citing mental health pressures.

Last week Arnold released a public statement maintaining his innocence in relation to all domestic violence allegations.

“I will respect and follow the court process but it will take a long time for the allegations against me to be heard and determined,” he said.

“I ask people to keep in mind my position of innocence until proven otherwise in our Northern Territory court of law.”

The new domestic violence application was adjourned to September 1 for a mention.
