Police are calling for information from community members who may be able to assist in investigations into the sudden death of a man whose body was found on a Darwin footpath.
NT Police and emergency services personnel were called to the scene of the sudden death – a footpath near the corner of Clematis St and Nightcliff Rd, Nightcliff – about 7am Friday.
Uniformed and plain clothes detectives were seen doorknocking in the area as a crime scene was formed.
Police have since called for information on the incident.
The body was still at the scene about 9am, but had been covered with material.
NT Police in a statement to the NT News said police were attending a “non-suspicious sudden death”.
“Police and emergency services were called to the scene after a body of a man was located,” a NT Police spokeswoman said.
“Initial investigations have determined there were no suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
The deceased man was described by police as being of Aboriginal appearance, and he had been wearing blue shorts and a black shirt.
On Friday afternoon, NT Police said investigations into the circumstances and cause of the man’s death were continuing.
“Investigations into the circumstances and cause of death are ongoing, however at this stage appear non-suspicious,” the statement read.
Detectives urge any witnesses who may have seen the man in the area, particularly those who have CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police on 131 444 and quote NTP2400024126.
