Police are investigating whether a spate of break-ins and cars being stolen in the Top End are linked.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Richard Howie said police were called out to four incidents in as many hours on Friday morning.

Mr Howie said a car was allegedly stolen from a Casuarina Dr residence in Nightcliff shortly after midnight, and the vehicle was later found at 2.30am.

“Then we had an (alleged) unlawful entry on Grevillea Circuit, Nightcliff, at about 12.30am,” he said.

Mr Howie said a silver Mazda 2 was allegedly stolen from Knuckey St at 3am, and the car was still missing.

He said the car’s registration was CC10ZG.

Mr Howie said police responded to another alleged unlawful entry on Byrne Cct in Moil at 3.45am.

He said police were also looking for an allegedly stolen vehicle from a couple of nights ago.

The car is a white Mitsubishi ASX, with registration number CE59BS.

Mr Howie said police did not make any arrests in relation to any of the incidents.

“We don’t know if these are all linked, but we are investigating this morning,” he said.

“We’ll put all of this offending together and see if it’s the same group of (alleged) offenders.”

Mr Howie said police also responded to a group of children and adults fighting in front of the Anula shops at 8.15am on Thursday.

He said six cars were damaged in the large disturbance, as well as a shop window.

“We have identified at least one of those persons,“ he said.

Mr Howie urged anyone with information about any of the night’s incidents to contact police on 131 444.

Darwin break-in allegedly foiled after man seen running off with wheelie bin

Police allege a booze bandit was busted dragging a wheelie bin filled with liquor down Darwin’s city streets overnight.

Northern Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said a man was in custody after allegedly breaking into a licenced business at 3.50am.

Mr Pusterla said police were alerted to the break-in, and arrived at the scene to see “someone running away with a wheelie bin”.

“He kept running,” he said.

Mr Pusterla said most of the liquor had been recovered.

It comes as police investigate a second break-in in the city, with investigators working with a business to see if anything was taken following an unlawful entry at 1.40am.
