NT Police: 13 people arrested after alleged two-car theft, three to face court
A dozen kids and one adult have been arrested after allegedly stealing two cars from an Alice Springs service provider.

Thirteen people have been arrested after they allegedly stole two cars from an Alice Springs service provider.
NT Police Southern Watch Commander Andrew Dunnage said the alleged burglary happened about 7.15pm Wednesday.
“Both of those cars were reported to us later on in the evening as (being driven) around erratically through town,” he said.
Sergeant Dunnage said officers deployed spikes on one of the cars about 10pm, and spiked the second one 50 minutes later.
He said one adult and 12 children – aged between eight and 18 – emerged from the two cars combined and were arrested.
Sergeant Dunnage said no charges had been laid but the adult and two of the older children remained in custody and were expected to front court on Thursday morning.
“The other 10 (children) were released and they’ll be further dealt with under the Youth Justice Act,” he said.
Man knocked unconscious in Alice Springs CBD assault
Police are appealing for information from the public after a man was knocked unconscious in the Alice Springs town centre on Saturday evening.
NT Police said CCTV captured the victim being assaulted by two men on Gregory Tce, near the intersection of Todd St, about 9.30pm on Saturday.
Investigators said the victim received injuries to his head before falling to the ground and being knocked unconscious.
The alleged offenders then fled the scene with the man’s belongings.
Police said the two men believed to be involved were of Aboriginal appearance, with one wearing jeans, white shoes, a black hoodie and a light cap, and the other wearing a striped shirt, black pants and a dark hat.
Police believe a woman was also involved in the assault, describing her as also of Aboriginal appearance and wearing a long white jacket.

In a separate matter, a 34-year-old man has been charged in relation to an alleged domestic violence related assault at Hidden Valley Camp in Alice Springs on Friday.
Police said they received reports the man had assaulted his partner with a blunt weapon at 11.55pm on Friday.
They said the woman was subsequently taken to Alice Springs Hospital by St John Ambulance with serious injuries.
The man was arrested a short time later and has been charged with unlawfully causing serious harm and being armed with an offensive weapon at night.
He was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.
Police on hunt for thousands in stolen art after brazen outback heist
Police are seeking to recover thousands of dollars worth of paintings following a brazen outback art heist targeting a Territory cultural centre in broad daylight last week.
An NT Police spokesman said four valuable paintings were swiped from the Arlpwe Art and Culture Centre in Ali Curung at 1pm on June 16.
Two paintings by Maria Dickenson – both titled “miyikampi” – were among the stolen pieces.
Each is 91cm by 91cm, with one featuring “white dots on a black background with blue and yellow shapes” and the other depicting the same backdrop with “red and yellow or orange lines”.
Warrick Miller’s 180cm by 120cm painting titled “ngapa jukupur” boasts a series of “white squiggly lines surrounding three dotted circles with a bold white circle in the centre”.
An unnamed 91cm by 91cm painting by Sonya Murphy featuring red and white circles was also taken.
NT Police are working with the artists and gallery to locate the paintings and are calling on anyone with information to reach out.

Police investigate vehicle arson in Alice Springs
NT Police are carrying out investigations in relation to the arson of two cars in Alice Springs on Wednesday night.
Police received a report two vehicles were on fire in Irvine Cres and Spicer Cres in Araluen about 11.30pm.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and extinguished both cars.
A crime scene was established on Thursday morning with forensics, fire investigators and detectives all taking part in investigations.
Strike Force Viper is investigating the fire and has urged anyone with information, particularly those with CCTV of the area, to come forward.
Police have urged witnesses to contact 131 444 and quote reference number 10378113.
Two males allegedly break into victim’s bedroom with knife
An Alice Springs resident has had a terrifying wake-up call after two males allegedly used a knife to break into their bedroom, with one of the alleged offenders still on the run.
Northern Territory Police alleged a 15-year-old boy and another male broke into an apartment on Strehlow St, The Gap, about 10.30pm on Sunday.
One of the intruders allegedly used a knife within the apartment to unlock the victim’s bedroom door.
Both fled the scene after being confronted by the victim.
Investigators from Strike Force Viper arrived at the apartment and a crime scene was established.
The 15-year-old was arrested in relation to the offending just after 11pm Monday, and remains in police custody.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the remaining offender and police are encouraging anyone with information or CCTV footage to come forward.
Police investigating Alice Springs ram-raid
Police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen from an Alice Springs business and used to ram its way off the premises before being dumped on the side of the road.
Southern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Andrew Heath said police were alerted to an incident at a business on Brown St, Ciccone about 11pm on Monday.
He said when officers arrived they found “the gate had been rammed by a vehicle”.
“There was a lot of debris on the road,” Sergeant Heath said.
He said within 15 minutes police had located a busted Ford Ranger abandoned on Gap Rd.
Sergeant Heath said the stolen vehicle had “extensive” damage to the front end.
He said the vehicle was being investigated by the forensic team.
It is unknown if anything else was stolen from the Brown St business.
