Heavily tattooed miner with model wife runs for One Nation federal seat

He’s a miner with anarchist tattoos, thousands of social media followers and a model wife, now he’s aiming for Parliament House.

One Nation candidate Stuart Bonds

It’s not every day you see an aspiring federal politician with the words ‘F**K WHAT THEY THINK’ blasted across the top of his Twitter page, a model wife and an anarchist symbol tattooed on his chest.

But One Nation’s new secret weapon in its bid to take the NSW seat of Hunter in the upcoming election is defying most of the stereotypes we have about politicians.

Stuart Bonds’ social media pages show topless pictures of the hunky and heavily tattooed 33-year-old posing for arty black-and-white photos.

He even has a family Facebook page with more than 8000 followers that shows off his Finnish wife Sini — who runs a tattoo business called Anarchy Ink Australia and publishes a blog, where she describes herself as a “tattooist and international model”.

Standing on a platform that promises to protect local coal mining jobs and invest in apprenticeships — Mr Bonds is attempting to wrestle the Labor seat which has been held by Joel Fitzgibbon since 1996.

His wife Sini is also politically active and announced on her blog last year that she would run in Finland’s next election. However, that election is next week so it’s understood she will not be running.

She also stood on a hard line platform, proposing that Finland leaves the EU, imposing stronger convictions for homicide and sex crimes, and bringing in tough new laws on immigration.

“Close the borders and a tighter inspection of who has a right to come to safety in our country or as an immigrant (and introduce) a trial period for refugees and immigrants,” she proposed in her election platform.

Following suit for his homeland, Mr Bonds, who is a fitter machinist by trade and works in mining and cattle farming, announced he was running for the Hunter seat on Monday after a horrific week for One Nation.

Explaining his Twitter slogan, “RULE NUMBER 1: F**K WHAT THEY THINK” and his tattoos, told The Newcastle Herald he’s not an anarchist despite what his body art might suggest.

“I am a little bit of an in-your-face person,” Mr Bonds said. “I’m not the sort of average person who would be running, which is exactly what we need. We need a bit of varying, a bit of difference of opinions down there.”

He is also calling for “commonsense” approaches to climate change and immigration policy.

One Nation’s horrific week began when an explosive investigation revealed senior One Nation figures tried to bag millions of dollars in political donations from America’s largest gun rights lobby, while softening our gun control laws.

This then prompted Prime Minister Scott Morrison to announce the Liberals would preference One Nation below the Labor Party at the federal election.

To top it all off, the party’s leader, Pauline Hanson, last month suffered a tick bite that left her “unrecognisable” and then on Tuesday was rushed to hospital.

She is now recovering in hospital after an emergency operation to remove her appendix.

Ms Hanson, who said her party had been “stitched up” by a foreign agent over the Al Jazeera footage, also came under fire when the Al Jazeera report appeared to show her suggesting the Port Arthur massacre was part of a government conspiracy.
