Aussies battered by rain and floods and dreary weather in general are desperate for a reprieve. Here’s when the storm will pass for you.

After weeks of heavy rainfall and major flooding over most of the country’s southeastern states, Australians are looking for a silver lining on the horizon.

Here’s when the sun is expected to return to each capital city.

Sydney

Persistent showers are likely to stick around for most of the weekend and into the start of the next week in Sydney, with the worst forecast for Monday.

Humid conditions are expected on Tuesday, as thunderstorms pass over the city.

However, by Wednesday the mercury will rise to 25C and blue skies will return for most of the day.

Melbourne

Victorians are copping the brunt of drenching rains and major flooding to widespread parts of the state this week.

The rain will stick around for most of next week too, but there is sun on the horizon for Melburnians by next Friday.

The temperature will stay around 21C.

Brisbane

Residents of the Sunshine State have not been spared the wet weather this week and the weekend is not looking much better.

The weather is likely to heat up by Monday in Brisbane where the maximum temperature will likely reach 30C, though showers may persist until Tuesday.

By Wednesday, the mercury stays high and the rain will all but disappear, making for a glorious end to the week.

The temperature is expected to get up to 34C by Thursday and stay above 30C until Saturday when storms will return.

Perth

In the west, the wet weather is likely to subside in time for a sunny Saturday.

The temperature could hit 27C on Sunday, but showers are likely to return throughout the day.

The rain won’t stick around for long though, as more sunshine is forecast by Wednesday.

Adelaide

South Australia has been lashed by rain the past week, and unfortunately the rain isn’t likely to leave for some time.

Showers are expected to linger over Adelaide for at least the next week, with pockets of sunshine possible between.

Not until Monday week will the sun poke out from behind the clouds and bring temperatures of up to 24C.

Hobart

Hobart residents are also unlikely to see the end of rain in the next week.

Rainfall totals of up to 25mm are likely to hit the city on Saturday and drenching rains will persist for most of the week.

Canberra

The nation’s capital is also in for a lot of rain this coming week, with the possibility of thunderstorms over the weekend.

The sun may pop out by Thursday, though the temperature will stay below 20C as the rain eases.

Darwin

Northern Territorians can expect rain and possible storms for the start of the weekend.

On Sunday, the showers will move on and the sunshine is expected to stay in Darwin for at least another week.

Temperatures will stay around 34C in the capital city until Wednesday when they will soar to 36C.
