So we asked you, our readers, to tell us why we got it wrong and nominate your own choice for the greatest ever Territory sports star.

You offered up names through comments on our original list, by Facebook message, by email, by Texts to the Editor, and even by snail mail. Yes, apparently, it still exists.
As we painstakingly collated your suggested names we decided that our criteria for including them in a final list was that nominees had to be suggested multiple times.
So, in the end, we came up with a final list of 25 names representing a galaxy of sports stars that much larger states than the Territory — or even countries — would be deliriously proud to call their own.

And there were many, many more names than just the final 25 nominated, but we had to draw the line somewhere so, in the end, we sadly chose to leave out the names of those who had not been nominated more than once.
Many of the names that made our final 25 — in fact more than half of them — did not make our original Top 50 list, chosen by legendary NT News sports writer, Grey Morris.
Morris explained his tough — and sometimes controversial — decisions in a column after the final 50 was counted down.

So, finally, these are the Top 25 NT legends — listed alphabetically — we collated by weight of numbers from all your choices.
