TRACY Village Falcons got their Darwin Netball Premier League season off on the right foot with their defensive pressure seeing the side to a 42-16 win over Hoggies.
The 2019 premiers hit the court running with plenty of new players on board, including Zahli Adams and Mikaela Sawyer, who impressed on their first outing.
Strong defence was key to the victory with each player getting their one-on-ones and applying plenty of pressure to turn the ball over.

But also crucial was the Falcons’ ability to finish chances and punish mistakes with scores when on the attack.
Coach Sharon Freeman was proud of her side’s efforts and excited for a strong season with a side brimming with depth and options.
“I was happy with the win and with the girls particularly as we have so many new faces with so much potential,” Freeman told the NT News.
“Our defensive pressure all the way down the court was strong which allowed us to intercept the ball, capitalise and finish off for the score.
“Everyone played well and they got better as a team as the game wore on but Krissie Smith in particular came on after half time and had a brilliant game doing everything right
“There’s really great depth across the club at the moment which makes selections hard but will only pay off for us as the season goes on.”

Meanwhile, Nightcliff Tigers also opened their season with a big statement beating new side Banks Bulldogs 44-16 announcing themselves for a strong season.
Reigning premiers Pints were held to a thrilling 43-43 by a resurgent Waratahs outfit out to prove they can mix it with the rest this year.
