Ansett fly past Palmerston Power to maintain top two hopes
“It was an all-right win (against Essington) – we could have done better but those crucial final three minutes saw us over the line,” MacLachlan told the NT News.
“We are expecting them (Ansett) to come out hard. We’ve currently tied our matches against them so both sides will be keen to get the win.
“It’s pretty important for us to get that win and finish in the top two and take the double chance but we know that they’re after the same thing.
“Against them there will obviously be players that we need to contain. Then it’s about listening to what our coach says and bringing out our running game which is our biggest strength.”
Ansett will be going all out to book its spot in the top two, with the likes of Freddy Webb, Fred Williams and James Toohey all expected to fire from the talent-deep squad.
However, Jets have proven all season that their young squad is as talented as any side, with Will Burton and Ned Stevens ready to bring their A-game.
Jets will also be bolstered by the return of star import Jerron Jamerson, who was suspended for the match against Cannons for an accumulation of three technical fouls.
MacLachlan was also proud to be participating in the Indigenous Round, a round that will showcase Indigenous culture in the basketball community
“The Indigenous round is really important and it’s a really good thing that we’re having a round for it,” the Jets skipper said.
“It’s a great way to showcase the Indigenous culture particularly through basketball and show our support to the Indigenous community and everything that they do.
“Our jerseys look awesome and were designed by someone close to the club (Mim Cole) so it will be exciting to put mine on.”
