The Waratahs will preview the young guns tasked with keeping intact one of the most impressive records in rugby in an important U16 trial on Sunday.

Young guns from both the Waratahs and Brumbies Academies will head to Wollongong for a crucial trial ahead of the opening round of the Super Rugby U16s and U19s competitions later this month.

The Waratahs U16s have yet to lose a match since the return of the Super Rugby series designed to showcase the bets young talent in the country and exposure them to top level competition.

And it's a record they are proud of.

The Waratahs have named an impressive extended squad which will be could back closer to the start of the competition to be contested by the ACT Brumbies, NSW Waratahs, Queensland Reds, Melbourne Rebels and Western Force.

The competition gives in excess of 300 rising stars of game crucial exposure and also plays a role in the selection of the Junior Wallabies U20 side.

The Waratahs U16s have been training since last month with the trial on Sunday providing an early glimpse of their first up opponent against the ACT Brumbies U16 side in Wollongong.

“Selectors have been challenged to pick a squad after witnessing so many quality players across the different U16 representative associations this year.,’’ said NSW Waratahs Head of Talent Andrew Cleverley.
