UNABLE to play in the NBL1 due to COVID-19 star American swingman Jerron Jamerson has returned to Darwin to play for a youthful but powerful Tracy Village Jets outfit.
Jamerson, part of the 2019 championship-winning Razzle side, moved to Queensland in mid-March to step into the next level of Australian basketball but circumstance worked against him.
But Queensland’s loss is Darwin and particularly Tracy Village’s gain with the standout player and mentor returning to show off his class and skill once more.
“It hurt as it was a big opportunity for me to play down south but everyone was in the same boat,” Jamerson told the NT News.
“It’s great to be playing with Tracy Village but even bigger than that it’s just great to get to play basketball again and get back on that court.

“I don’t think my role will change here. I’m likely to fit in everywhere but mainly be in that scorer’s role where I can help build the points and assists while I also work on my rebound ability.
“There’s a lot of younger guys at Jets with a lot of heart and passion so this will be a good chance for me to test my leadership abilities.”
Jamerson has already built connections with his new squad having been a major part of Darwin basketball for the past few years and can’t wait to take to the court with them.
The import is excited to watch the development of Keenan Abbott and Thomas Malseed expecting both to step up in a Jets side that sits joint top of the table with Ansett after three rounds.
And it’s that Ansett encounter on August 7 that Jamerson has circled which will see him face-off against close friend and former teammate Fred Williams.
“That’s one of the biggest games and I have that one marked down. It’s definitely circled on my calendar and I wish all games were that big getting to play off against such a strong side,” Jamerson said.

In the meantime, he will be gearing up for an encounter against Eagles on Friday which will be sure to test the star in his first game back.
Eagles have Joseph Jackson and Chris Elder who both pose a massive threat to Jets’ unbeaten run.
“We definitely have to be able to rebound well against them and work hard on our defence. If we can keep the turnovers down we should be okay,” Jamerson said.
