St Mary’s young gun J’Noemi Anderson picked up by in AFLW draft

Another Territorian has flown to the top level of the footy world after a St Mary’s young gun was picked up by St Kilda in the AFLW draft.

ANOTHER Anderson has soared to the top level of the footy world after J’Noemi Anderson was picked up St Kilda as pick number 16 in the AFLW draft.

The St Mary’s star has dominated the Women’s NTFL Premier League as a strong forward impressing for her club over the past couple of years.

Her performances earned her the 2020-21 Rising Star award and the 2021-22 St Mary’s Women’s Premier League best and fairest.

She has also played for the NT Thunder Academy, Allies, NAB AFLW Academy and for the Sandringham Dragons in the NAB League.

The Anderson family is no stranger to playing at the top level of the sport with three of J’Noemi’s older siblings having played in either the AFL or AFLW.

Jed has played over 80 games in the AFL at Hawthorn and North Melbourne, where he is still a mainstay in the midfield.

Joe played 17 games for Carlton between 2007 and 2010 and Jasmine was a rookie in Adelaide’s inaugural AFLW list in 2017.

AFLNT talent manager Simon Hargrave commended Anderson on her hard work through talent pathways.

“I have watched J’Noemi grow and develop significantly over the past three to four years,” he said.

“She has put the hard work to get where she is today and it’s really exciting to see where her footy can take her at the highest level.

“J’Noemi is a reliable in and under player, not afraid to go hard at the contest and can also hit the scoreboard as well. What more could you want from a mid/forward player.

“She has been a huge talent for us in the Cazalys NT Thunder Academy over the past couple of years, was also selected for Allies and I have no doubt she’ll be a great asset to the Saints.”

Anderson is the 21st player affiliated to the NT to be listed on an AFLW squad since the inaugural AFL Women’s Draft in 2016.
