OF all the brilliant, jaw-dropping and spectacular moments of Will Farrer’s 2015-16 NTFL season — his 100th goal was relatively straight forward.

Farrer is known for taking big grabs, kicking goals from acute angles and being a one man highlight reel but he reached the ton with a simple goal.

In the ninth minute of the first term yesterday afternoon against the Tiwi Bombers, he flew for a high mark just outside the goal square but misjudged it and the ball fell in between a number of Crocs and Bombers players.

As you are taught to as a rover, the clever Marcus Hamilton was at the foot of the contest — he collected the footy and handballed directly to Farrer as he ran past and in to an open goal to bring up the rare triple figures.

As soon as he kicked the ton, Farrer raised both hands in the air and was engulfed by his teammates before Crocs supporters joined the party on TIO Stadium seconds later.

“It was very special,” he told the NT News after the game.

“Considering where I came from in the Kimberley, to come up here and play senior footy and kick 100 goals like I did today.

“I have to thank my mates, my teammates, our coach and my family as well for the support.”

Farrer becomes the sixth player in the 100-year history of the NTFL to boot 100 goals and the fourth Crocodile after Allen Jakovich, Ashley Wedding and Damian Cupido.

The 100th goal was easy as they come but goal number 99 came in typical Farrer fashion.

A long ball came inside the Crocs attacking 50 from Dane McGennisken and the man everyone was looking at leapt ahead of his opponent Jason Puruntatameri to take a strong mark.

He slotted expertly from 25 metres out on a slight angle to put himself one kick away from history.

Farrer estimated he had never kicked more than 70 goals in a season prior to the current one.

He thanked Southern Districts product and current Gold Coast Sun Steve May for giving him a fitness program that helped strengthen his “bony legs”.

“It is a good result today considering Tiwi are a good side,” Farrer said.

“We cannot take the minor premiership for granted though, we need to get back on the training track and do what we have been doing all year.”
