Aussie rules seasons across NSW and the ACT are well underway with hauls of goals dropping left, right and centre.
From the city to the country, forwards are starting to rack up impressive numbers for the season.
Here are the top 16 goalscorers across NSW/ACT as of July 18.
1. BUSTER WARE (BATEMANS BAY, CANB DIV 1, 67 GOALS)
Cracking first name and having an even better season. Buster Ware has been a model of consistency for the Seahawks this season and he has gone to a new level with 21 goals in his past two outings.
2. MURRAY STEPHENSON (WAGGA TIGERS, RIVERINA, 57 GOALS)
Stephenson has been on fire in the Riverina this season, with a best run of 21 goals in three games. Was slowed down a touch against Turvey Park to keep the door open for top honours in a strong comp.
3. GEORGE ALEXANDER (OSBORNE, HUME, 56 GOALS)
Has been in incredible form over the last month or so, booting 10 against Murray and backing it up with 20 in his next three outings. Kicked another five against Jindera before the league-wide bye.
4. MARTY BOYER (COLLINGULLIE WAGGA, RIVERINA, 55 GOALS)
Getting hot at the right time of the season. Kicked 10 goals against Leeton Whitton and the Collingullie Wagga sharpshooter now has 29 goals in his past four outings to move right towards the top.
*ANDREW SWAN (EWK HAWKS, FARRER, 55 GOALS)
A blistering start to the season from Swan saw him kick 29 goals in his first five games. Slowed down a touch, but has re-found his best with 11 in his last two outings against Barellan and Marrar.
6. SIENNA SMITH (SOUTHERN POWER, SYD DIV 2, 50 GOALS)
Is relishing a more forward role this year to surge clear in Sydney women’s division two with 5-goal majors for the season so far. Over the last two weeks she has booted two six-goal hauls.
7. JOCK CORNELL (TEMORA, FARRER, 49 GOALS)
Incredibly his haul of 42 goals from nine games includes a goalless match against EWK.
Boasts a 10-goal haul against North Wagga to put him hot on the heels of Swan in the race for Farrer’s top spot.
8. NICHOLAS BUCHANAN (COOLAMON, RIVERINA, 48 GOALS)
Consistency has been a strong point of Buchanan’s season with Coolamon. Hasn’t kicked below three goals in a game all season, keeping him in the top three. Kicked seven combined against Turvey Park and Griffith.
HUGO BIRKS (UNSW-ES, SYD PREMIER, 48 GOALS)
Leading the charge in Sydney is Bulldogs dynamo Hugo Birks, who has kicked an incredible 48 goals from just nine games. Despite 23 goals in rounds five and six, Birks has played just once in the last month after earning a call-up to the VFL with the Giants.
10. RYAN BEVERIDGE (CDHBU, HUME, 47 GOALS)
Has slowed down over the last few weeks with just two in the last fortnight to see him fall narrowly behind Alexander in Hume. But on his day he can boot massive hauls. A chance to take the top, although didn’t score against Lockhart.
MITCH STEVENS (PENRITH, SYD DIV 2, 47 GOALS)
After going scoreless in the opening round against Manly, Stevens has been electric in front of goal. Had just two against Manly a fortnight ago before bouncing back with five against East Coast to keep him rolling.
12. CHARLIE KELSALL (TEMORA, FARRER, 46 GOALS)
After a one-off stint with Quaker Oats, has returned to Temora with a bang, booting 23 in his last four games to give him a real shot at the top honour in Farrer.
13. DYLAN JORDAN (MERIMBULA, SAPPHIRE COAST, 43 GOALS)
It will be hard work to catch up to previous tallies of 68 and 52, but Dylan Jordan is well on the way with 43 from eight games. Has five in his last two outings and a best of 10, but hasn’t played in the last two games.
14. TROY LUFF (UNSW-ES, SYDNEY DIV 5, 41 GOALS)
The 600-game legend and former Sydney Swan is enjoying a stellar season for the Bulldogs in front of goal, taking his tally to 41 after booting 22 goals in his last four games.
15. CAMERON MOORE (SOUTHERN CATS, CANBERRA DIV 2, 40 GOALS)
Enters these rankings for the first time on the back of some outstanding form. Kicked six against Ainslie and backed it up with another half-dozen against Batemans Bay.
SAM FENSOM (HILLSTON, NORTHERN RIVERINA, 40 GOALS)
Another new face on the rankings who climbed up to 40 goals with Hillston in the Nothern Riverina comp from just nine games.
*All stats correct up to 18 July. Players who have played across multiple divisions were only counted for their predominant league.
