THE LAST SAY: Tips, market movers for Group 1 racing at Flemington as Rosehill Gardens postponed until Tuesday
Today’s Tancred Stakes meeting at Rosehill Gardens has been postponed until Tuesday, but there’s still a fascinating Group 1 contest brewing at Flemington with Pride Of Jenni in the Australian Cup.

The Tancred Stakes Day meeting at Rosehill Gardens has been rescheduled to be run on Tuesday after Saturday’s meeting was postponed due to rain.
The track slipped into the heavy range following 17mm of rain overnight and into Saturday morning, with a further 50mm expected today, stewards made the decision just before 8.30am AEDT to postpone the meeting.

“It was futile to think we would get through the lion’s share of the meeting,” chief steward Steve Railton told Sky Racing.
Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club made the decision to move the meeting to Tuesday, leaving The Championships dates intact, commencing next Saturday with the Doncaster meeting.
Scratchings from the Tancred meeting will be reinstated and the meeting remains as is with race times to be confirmed.
Rain has caused havoc right up the east coast, with meetings at Doomben in Queensland as well as Wyong and Tullibigeal in NSW also called off.
The Doomben track has copped almost 800mm of rain in 2025 and – for at least 24 hours – it had appeared unlikely it would race on Saturday.
Queensland racing officials had tried to put on a brave face and as recently as Friday afternoon they sent out advice to members they were “full of optimism” that they would be able to race on Saturday.
But the call was made shortly after 6am Saturday that the Doomben meeting would not go ahead, with a forecast of up to 50mm of rain still to come in Brisbane today.
That leaves the Group 1 $2.5 million Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington as today’s key feature race – but it will be a beauty, with reigning Horse of the Year Pride Of Jenni clashing with Zardozi again after the mares ran 1-2 in the Peter Young Stakes.

BE WARY: Rain is forecast for Flemington today where the rail is in the true. Flemington is a very good wet weather surface but jockeys are likely to steer clear of the inside section of the home straight if the track rating gets well into the soft range.

FLEMINGTON TIPS
BEST BET: PISANELLO (Race 6 No.8) charged home late to just miss when resuming at Group 3 level over 1100m at Rosehill two weeks ago. He drops back slightly in trip to 1000m here but he did something similar last preparation and ran a tick over 56s to score a brilliant win at Kembla Grange. Pisanello has won up the straight at Flemington previously and has a perfect second-up record with three wins from three attempts. Promising Godolphin sprinter who finds himself in a winnable race.
JMac makes it a record 11 wins across the Melbourne Cup Carnival riding Pisanello home in the last, the World Horse Racing Grand Handicap.

NEXT BEST: MYTEMPTATION (Race 10 No.1) lost his unbeaten record at The Valley last week when he had excuses finishing unplaced over 1200m in a Benchmark 96. He drops back to a Benchmark 78 over a course and distance he won impressively two starts back. Mytemptation has a good horse’s weight but is the one to beat.
Mytemptation remains unbeaten from 4 starts after a dominant win in the Vale Michael Moroney.

VALUE BET: BERKSHIRE BREEZE (Race 9 No.9) won over the Flemington 2600m course last winter, his third win in succession, but then his form gradually started to taper off during spring. He was spelled after failing in the Caulfield Cup but his two runs back have been encouraging, particularly his closing fourth, beaten less than a length at Flemington last start. He gets up to his right distance range here and is value around $6.
BERKSHIRE BREEZE blows them all away with a dominant display in the Banjo Paterson Series Final.

We should see him again at Flemington this Spring in The Archer or Bart Cummings.

THE WHISPER: FIRST SETTLER (Race 7 No.1) is a talented three-year-old colt resuming. He won three of his four starts including the Group 2 Danehill Stakes down the Flemington straight before finishing unplaced in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes. He’s resuming off two Cranbourne jumpout wins where he has looked sharp. Drawn the rails and has topweight but has a class edge over his rivals and just needs luck in running.
It's a Price-Kent quinella in the Danehill! ð°
