A CORONIAL inquest will be held into the death of jockey Simone Montgomerie at last year's Darwin Cup carnival.
tIn a statement to the NT News last night, the Office of the NT Coroner said: "The office can confirm an inquest will be held into the death of Simone Montgomerie."
"We are awaiting the full police brief of evidence to be delivered before we set a time and date," the office said.
NT WorkSafe has been investig- ating Montgomerie's death for the past seven months.
NT Work Health Authority spokesman Doug Phillips said it did not publicly release its completed investigation reports "as they may, in some circumstances, form a brief of evidence for future court proceedings".
"Relevant information from an investigation that may prevent a further occurrence of a high-risk incident is released in the form of safety alerts or bulletins to provide information and advice to other businesses and workers," he said. "The Simone Montgomerie investigation is still ongoing."
