TEENAGE apprentice Rian Mageean achieved a major milestone when he rode his first double at Fannie Bay.

The 18-year-old enjoyed the best day of his emerging career in the saddle as Redangelo and Dreaming Of Nepal saluted in yesterday's final two races.

"It's a very historic day for me, to ride my first double and win two races in a row is a great feeling," Mageean told the Sunday Territorian.

Mageean illustrated why he has now outridden his 4kg claim and will have 3kg next to his name at the next Bay meeting with two neat rides.

Redangelo belied his tag as a reluctant winner by producing a tough effort in the Darwin Life Magazine Rating 64 Handicap (1300m) for his boss Stephen Brown.

"I was surprised he got up and won, during the past couple of runs we've tried everything to get him going and couldn't find the magic," Mageean said.

"I kept him pushing forward throughout and he found the line well, it's very nice win aboard him for Browny and Elisha."

Dreaming Of Nepal ($3.20fav) rounded out another good day for the Gary Clarke team when he prevailed in the Sportingbet Rating 82 Handicap (1100m).

The six-year-old has been a model of consistency since arriving in the Top End and was given a lovely run in transit by Mageean.

"He always tries to put his best foot forward and Gary said to me 'you've got a 4kg claim, so use it to your advantage and it should work out well' which it did," Mageean said.

Dreaming Of Nepal led home a Clarke trifecta in the race and delivered the top trainer a treble for the day as he accounted for stablemates Alittlevolcanic and Belcino.

Earlier, Richie Oakford steered home Bomber and Eminent Fame to victory for the Clarke team.

Bomber cast aside a string of disappointing displays when he strolled to a 6 1/2 length victory in the Class B Handicap (1200m).

Eminent Fame produced a remarkable turnaround to win the Ten Darwin Rating 58 Handicap (1000m).

The five-year-old had been beaten a total of 83.3 lengths in his previous three starts, including a 27 3/4 length last seven days earlier.

But that was all a distant memory as Oakford lifted him to a three-quarter length success from Macca's Moment.

Felicia Bergstrand produced a gem of a ride to win the Total Recreation Rating 58 Handicap (1600m) aboard Live In Doubt.

Bergstrand went straight to the front and pinched the race, covering the first 1000m in 60.76 seconds, before careering away for a 10 1/2 length victory.
