PINT and St Mary’s continued their winning starts to the Women’s Premier League season while reigning premier Southern Districts got a much needed win in Round 5 matches.

Ladder leaders PINT took its win-loss record to 5-0 when they beat Nightcliff by 34 points at DXC Arena.

The Queenants missed several shots at goal in the first half on the way to a 2.9 (21) score at the main break while their defence kept the Tigers goalless until the last quarter.

St Mary’s did not concede a goal in its 5.11 (41) to 0.2 (2) win over the Palmerston Magpies.

The Saints found goals hard to score themselves in a second half that produced only six behinds as the match turned into a defensive slog.

Southern Districts’ coaches, players and officials breathed a big sigh of relief when the Crocodiles beat Wanderers by 51 points at Norbuilt Oval.

It was the reigning premier’s first win of a disrupted season that includes a draw in the grand final rematch against Waratah two weeks ago.

A four-goal to nothing second quarter inspired by 150-gamer Lateesha Jeffrey, midfielder Bella Clarke and Ebony Miller in the ruck broke the shackles for Districts.

“We needed the win and to the girls’ credit they did it in style,’’ coach Tarmon Elliott said.

“That performance gets us back on track and hopefully we can go on with it now.’’

The Buffettes moved into third spot on the WPL ladder when they held Tracy Village scoreless in an 18.9 (117) to nil win.

Zoe Anderson’s nine goals from a forward pocket and midfielders Dominique Carbone and Kylie Duggan dominated the match at the Village ground.
