THE Palmerston Reds ended Tracy Village’s unbeaten run in the 2020 Darwin Baseball League season on Sunday.
The Reds rode a five-run second inning to a 6-1 win breaking the DBL-leading Rebels streak of seven wins.
Palmerston starting pitcher Jason Bates ensured the Reds’ lead was never in doubt, scattering five hits across a seven-inning complete game.
It took six innings for the Rebels to score a run against him and by then his Palmerston outfit had built a six-run buffer against their opponants.
Kenji Nagasue, Denis Olsen and Rod Hardy all posted two hits for the Reds in what will have been a confidence boosting result for the second-placed side.
Consistent performer Thomas Grills scored the lone run for the Villagers while Brodie Hertel tossed a complete game striking out eight.

Palmerston enjoyed further success in the earlier of their two matches overpowering Nightcliff 21-3 and lifting their season record to an even four wins and four losses.
The Reds blew the game open early with an 11 run third innings after jumping to a 6-0 lead through the opening two frames.
The side recorded seven hits in a massive third innings with a further score boost from four Nightcliff errors to help bolster the score and lift the side to an insurmmountable lead.
Jason Ellery signalled four times for the Reds with Wayne Franklin and Russell Nichols managed three base hits each.
Bates enjoyed another big game himself driving in seven runs after reaching base fives times.
Anthony Zamalo and Dave Carmichael were responsible for bringing in the Tigers runs.
