Star Essington Cannons big man Travis Ellis says it’s great to be back at the club he used to captain ahead of Darwin Basketball clash v Lightning

“It feels great, everyone loves winning and for that it probably comes down to our togetherness,” Hohipa-Wilson told the NT News.

“The connection is much stronger among our group than last year now that we have had a year together as a group. And for us the big thing is our depth.

“And for us the big thing is our depth. We don’t have a specific go to person, anyone can be a starter and everyone puts in a shift.”

That depth sees a healthy mix of experience and youth take to the court in Power colours with swingman recruit Pat Golong adding another scoring dimension to the side.

In Jesse Bell Power have one of the best defenders in the league while stalwart Tom Godwin is often in the scoring himself.

And with the depth on offer from the bench Power can apply a healthy rotation without stepping back in intensity.

The Cannons however have plenty to offer themselves and won’t be a side that Palmerston take lightly.

Travis Ellis adds height and shooting alongside import Elijah Barbour who can be a menace when left unchecked.

“For our point of view we will be looking to play with a lot of heart and keenness as one of our players as recently lost a family member,” Hohipa-Wilson said.

“So we will be fired up and be looking to play with intensity to put a smile on that player’s face.

“Cannons’ are one of those teams that will give us an extra challenge with their import (Elijah Barbour) and the experience of Travis Ellis.

“That’s where our depth will need to show with our starting five hitting off and as players come on hopefully they will be able to carry on that intensity.”
