Australia’s rich history in the Paralympic pool looks set to continue with a strong 30-athlete squad to hit the water in Paris.

The selected squad contains a mix of our experienced athletes and those competing on the sport’s biggest stage for the first time.

Three-time Paralympic gold medallist Brendan Hall will equal an Australian Para-swimming record fifth Games appearance while Ahmed Kelly and Grant Patterson will compete at their fourth.

The Aussie team brought 33 medals, including eight gold, home from Tokyo, with the country’s overall Paralympic history including 453 medals with the late Daphne Hilton winning our first gold in 1960 in Rome.

“When our swimming team does well, Australia does well,” Australian Paralympic Team Chef de Mission Kate McLoughlin said.

“We’ll have another strong team of swimmers representing us in Paris and I know they’ll be prepared and determined to give their absolute best as they go after their goals.”

Australia will be looking to continue its rich athletics history at Paralympic Games in Paris.

The Aussie team contains a blend of our most experienced athletes including Angie Ballard who will compete at her seventh Paralympics.

Chad Perris, Rhiannon Clarke, James Turner and Vanessa Low have been named as the team’s co-captains

“This team has a big task ahead of them, but we’re looking forward to seeing them compete against the world’s best on the biggest stage there is,” Athletics Australia chief executive Peter Bromley said at the team announcement.
