Aussie Olympic champion Libby Trickett has gone public with her joyous news that she is pregnant again and is set to become a mum for the fifth time.
The four-time Olympic gold medallist revealed her news on Instagram on Friday after sharing an ultrasound image with her followers.
“Luke and I are absolutely thrilled (and ever so slightly terrified) to announce that we will be welcoming Baby Trickett 5.0 into the world in April,” Trickett wrote.
“Poppy is already excited for another baby, Eddie thinks it will be a little boy, Bronte thinks it will be a little girl and Alfie keeps pointing to my tummy and saying ‘baby’ but really has no idea what’s he’s in for.”
Among her captions, Trickett wrote this will be her final pregnancy and insisted the couple will not go for baby No. 6.
She wrote: “We must be slightly unhinged or suckers for punishment. Probably both”.
She also posted: “I really, really promise this is absolutely it”.
The couple already share four children - daughters Poppy, eight, Edwina, five, and Bronte, three, and a son, Alfred, 18 months.
Trickett was widely congratulated for her joyous news.
Olympian Jana Pittman commented on the Instagram post: “Amazing!!!!!!! Big families are the best”.
Neuroscientist Dr Sarah McKay also wrote: “This is Olympian level parenting!! Congratulations”.
Author Rebecca Sparrow also wrote: “The world needs more people raised in warm, loving homes. I am so thrilled for you all, Lib. You’ve got this. And we’ve all got you.”
Trickett’s journey as a busy mum has made her a leading voice on lifestyle trends — and endeared her to a new generation of 76,000 followers on Instagram.
She was widely praised after sharing her horrified reaction to a question that was asked of her eight-year-old daughter earlier this year.
Her powerful public commentary struck a chord with many of her followers.
Trickett said she watched a heartbreaking scene when her daughter was asked about her weight.
She shared her response to the moment with a message for her Instagram followers.
“I had someone close to us say to my eight-year-old daughter today, ‘wow you look like you’ve lost weight. Have you lost weight? You look great’,” she explained.
“My daughter is eight.”
She went on to say: “We need to do better as a society in the way we speak to our young kids. We need to do better as a society in how we speak about ourselves.
“Yes, we need to do better in front of our kids and how we speak to ourselves, we need to do better in moments alone and how we speak to ourselves about our bodies.
“Because that is going to influence how we talk to our kids about their bodies, we need to do better.”
