The new kayak cross event is insane.

This is the one we where we hope Jess Fox picks up her third gold medal. If she can’t, well, maybe her sister Noemie can.

They both made it through to the next round, by the way.

But the sport itself is nuts.

Unlike the slalom events where Jess already won two gold medals, kayak cross pits you in a race against other paddlers.

First they drop you off a ledge into the water and then it is on as the paddlers jostle for position before a giant padded barrier forces them to barrel roll beneath the water and pop up on the other side.

From there it is a race to the finish around the course’s various posts.

Think you safely made it around a post? Boom! You just got sideswiped by an opponent trying to do the same thing.

It’s nuts. We love it. Why wasn’t this made an Olympic sport years ago?

Snoop Dogg continues his Olympic odyssey

American rapper Snoop Dogg has taken his Olympics super fan experience to the next level.

Inspired and oozing swag, he appeared at the glamorous Palace of Versailles on Saturday dressed as a rider for the Olympic equestrian team dressage final.

With a black helmet, gloves and jacket, plus white riding shirt — complete with studded sunglasses and an S-shaped brooch — the Californian star was a standout among the 15,000 spectators who cheered on competition.

Snoop Dogg, who is in Paris for NBC as a special Olympics correspondent, has so far had a Games to remember.

The 52-year-old has been spotted at several events, including the gymnastics, judo, beach volleyball, swimming and 3x3 basketball.

He also carried the Olympic flame for the opening ceremony and met up with tennis legend Billie Jean King.

Ebden, Peers keep the gold flowing for Australia

Australia surged briefly into second spot on the medal tally off the back of Matt Ebden and John Peers taking gold in the tennis men’s doubles final.

In an absolute nail biter of a match, The Aussie men dropped the first set in a tie-breaker against the USA before coming from behind in the second set to clinch that one the same way.

The match then went to a 10-point shootout, with Ebden and Peers revving up the crowd as they narrowly claimed the win and the gold medal.

The win put Australia on 12 gold medals behind only China with 13 on the medal tally.

From ‘useless’ to Australian sailing’s first medallist in Paris

Three years ago, no one wanted to train with young windsurfer Grae Morris because they thought he was “useless”. Now the youngest, least experienced man in the iQFOiL fleet owns a historic Olympic silver medal.

The hulking 20-year-old former schoolboy rugby player has barged his way to the elite echelons of the sport with raw talent, dedication, determination and a laid back charm which has made him a crowd darling.

At the Marseille Olympic regatta he went from “being an idiot” and languishing at the rear of the fleet to winning the lead-up racing to earn an automatic spot in the three-board final in which he finished second behind Israeli Tom Reuveny.

Chalmers opens up on 100m freestyle fallout

Kyle Chalmers says he has spoken directly with his Chinese swim rival Pan Zhanle to clear the air after the newly crowned Olympic champion accused the Australian of disrespecting him in Paris.

Chalmers has opened up about the grief he had been subjected to during the fallout to their epic head to head clash in the Olympic 100m freestyle final but said everything was now fine between the pair.

“A huge amount of grief, which is obviously very challenging to deal with mentally,” Chalmers said.

“But I know that I’ve done everything I possibly can to be respectful, like I am to every one of my competitors.”

Pan obliterated the world record to win gold in the 100m freestyle final, with Chalmers claiming the silver.
