NTFL star Janet Baird admits her new AFLW side the Gold Coast Suns has put her fitness to the test in preseason.
Baird, 20, who took part in her first official pre-season training last night has already got stuck into the Suns lifestyle and is enjoying every moment of living out her sporting dream.

And even though she’s the fittest she has ever been the midfielder admitted that her fitness had been tested by the Suns with a directive that everyone must run 2km in under 8min30sec.
“It’s definitely been good to get down here and meet everyone and start bonding with the side,” Baird told the NT News.
“Getting around the players and the coaches while getting to use the facilities I’ve found really good particularly being someone from outer state.
“My fitness has definitely been tested here. Everyone is sort of at the same starting position coming from off-season but having played games in the NT and having that match fitness has helped a lot.
“We’re taking it one goal at a time and for now that’s getting our heads down and working hard until Christmas to get our fitness up.
Baird has also embraced the Gold Coast lifestyle excited to be able to take a swim without fear of a crocodile.
Though the young star admitted it had come as quite an adjustment moving interstate and away from her family for the first time in her life.
That experience has seen her grow closest to her fellow interstate players such as Brittany Perry.
“It’s definitely hard being away from family as I’ve never been more than 10 minutes away from them,” Baird said.
“There’s been a lot of phone calls, a lot of facetiming and my brother is always on the phone to give me advice.

“It’s amazing down here. The weather and the atmosphere and getting to do things like swimming without worrying about crocs is really good.”
