Wests Tigers star Tuki Simpkins under investigation by police

A Wests Tigers rising star has handed himself into police after allegedly fleeing the scene of a car accident in Sydney.

Wests Tigers player Tuki Simpkins is under police investigation for allegedly fleeing the scene of a car accident in Sydney on Sunday morning, the club has confirmed in a statement.

The 20-year-old is reported to have lost control of a vehicle while driving without a license.

Nine Newspapersfirst reported Simpkins will front police on Monday after turning himself in to NSW police.

The Tigers released a statement on Monday afternoon confirming the club has informed the NRL Integrity Unit about the alleged incident.

“Wests Tigers have been made aware of an incident involving NRL player Tukimihia Simpkins,” the statement claimed.

“The club has alerted the NRL to the matter and will continue to work with the NRL Integrity Unit as needed.

“As this remains an ongoing legal matter, the club will make no further comment at the time.”

Nine Newspapers reported Simpkins has told police he was driving multiple passengers to McDonalds in the early hours of Sunday morning when his car allegedly mounted a kerb and crashed into a fence.

Simpkins made his NRL debut in Round 18 in 2021 and finished the season playing five senior games.
