Cronulla lock Thomas Dellow, Parramatta fullback Cameron Bamblett, Dolphins halfback Toby Batten and Brisbane Broncos prop Jackson Koina have soared up the top 50 rankings after the national secondary schools championships in Coffs Harbour.

Dellow, who has signed a long-term deal with the Sharks, was named player of the tournament and made the Australian secondary schools team for the second year in succession, having starred for the NSW CHS side.

The Sharks lock has signed a long-term deal with Cronulla and he confirmed why the Sharks tied him down after producing a series of storming performances at the championships to retain his place in the national side.

Dellow was one of the biggest movers as this masthead conducted its annual rerank of the nation’s best schoolboy rugby league players.

The tournament has showcased a slew of future superstars over the years and there were oodles of talent on show again this year, with Dellow among the headline acts.

Queensland half Hayden Watson, aligned to the Melbourne Storm, also made his mark on the tournament as he led the Maroons to victory while NSW CCC fullback Cameron Bamblett - signed to Parramatta - produced a series of brilliant displays to surge into the top five along with Broncos lock Jackson Koina.

Wests Tigers centre Haemasi Makasini, who is closing in on an NRL debut, and Manly half Onion Large were among those to drop down the rankings after missing the tournament.

Makasini was pulled out by the Tigers as they prepared him for the NRL while Large succumbed to injury.
