A Penrith Panthers star has poured fuel all over the relationship rumours surrounding Australia’s favourite sporting couple.

The Mary Fowler, Nathan Cleary relationship has reached new heights … at least according to one Panthers player.

Penrith’s premiership star Brian To’o fuelled the rumour mill of Australia’s sporting power couple after the club’s win on Saturday night.

As he spoke with Fox Sports’ Yvonne Sampson during a post-game interview, the cheeky Panthers star took full advantage of his moment.

“Brian we can hear the fans hanging over the fence screaming, is that because of Nathan?” Sampson asked.

“Nathan … oh yeah he’s over here with Mary. They’re just chatting on the side and everyone is going crazy. They’re pretty much here for Nathan and Mary,” To’o began before dropping the bombshell with tongue firmly in cheek.

“Congrats to them … I think they got engaged. So yeah, congrats to them.”

To make the moment even funnier, Fox’s cameras panned to show Nathan deep in conversation with Panthers CEO Brian Fletcher with Fowler nowhere to be seen.

Fowler and Cleary have continually sent social media into a spin since their relationship became official in November last year.

The pair hard launched their relationship in April when they went Instagram official after Fowler shared a series of photos of the pair together.

Despite the long-distance relationship, the loved up couple got to spend plenty of time together after Fowler returned home as Cleary was sidelined with injury.

Photos of the pair out and about in Sydney show the affectionate couple looking surprisingly at ease in front of the cameras — after they originally attempted to hide their relationship for months.

With Fowler having since returned to England, Cleary appears set to return from injury as the Panthers prepare to take on the Sydney Roosters in week one of the NRL finals.

Coach Ivan Cleary refused to guarantee the star’s return following the win over the Titans, but said he was “hopeful” he’d have him back for the game.

“He’s got a few hoops to jump through, but we’re hopeful,” Ivan said of his son.

“(The attack) is his job but we’ve never put it all on one player in our team.

“We have a system … and there’s a few players tonight who need to do their job better and if we get everyone doing their job, we’re a chance.”

The Panthers and Roosters will kick start the NRL finals when they lock horns on Friday night at BlueBet Stadium from 7:50pm (AEST).
