THE Gold Coast Titans are on the verge of signing former Warriors wrecking ball Konrad Hurrell.
Hurrell was on Wednesday released immediately from the Warriors, paving the way for the deal with the Titans to be finalised.
The Titans and Hurrell’s management have been locked in negotiations with a deal expected to be struck imminently.
The Titans were first approached about signing Hurrell in February, however the Tongan Test centre was determined to stay at the Warriors.
He struggled to win back the faith of coach Andrew McFadden though and eventually decided to leave.
“After discussions between Konrad, his management and us we’ve reached a mutual agreement for him to be released now,” said Warriors managing director Jim Doyle.
“We would like to thank Konrad for his contribution since coming into our development system. He has been a popular member of the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Hurrell, who made 71 appearances since his debut in 2012, said he had mixed emotions about leaving but was excited about continuing his NRL career elsewhere.
I will always be thankful to the ... Warriors for all they have done for me and the way they have helped me develop as a rugby league player,” he said.
“I’m grateful to all the boys I have played alongside, all the people at the club and also the members and fans.”
