Kyle Feldt has flattened a fan online after copping some Instagram stick. But stats reveal that ‘fan’ might have not been too far off the mark.

MUCH like his last-ditch tackles that have ironed out opponents this season, Cowboys fan favourite Kyle Feldt has laid the digital smack down to an online antagoniser this week.
Feldt regained his try-scoring supremacy for the season with one round to go with a double in the Cowboys’ drought-breaking win over the Dragons in Rockhampton.
It included a quintessential Feldt aerial special after he outleaped Mikaele Ravalawa to touch down in the corner.
The Cowboys Instagram celebrated Feldt’s try-scoring antics with a post exclaiming that it was “six-straight years with double digit tries” for the winger.
Townsville local Tony Doulis left a scathing comment on the post asking: “How many missed tackles? How many kicks out on the full? How many dumb penalties?”
Feldt wasted little time before he left a clap back that silenced the online critic suggesting he should already have all the answers considering he made the comment.
The winger’s comment already has more than 200 likes and several fans have backed him up with their replies to the comment.
It is not the first time Feldt has publicly hit back at a punter online this season.
When the winger brought up his milestone 100th try in the NRL he posted about the feat on his Facebook.
But one follower had a crack at Feldt, commenting: “Too bad you have had 1000 scored against your wing position”.
Feldt couldn’t help himself, responding: “Too bad you haven’t scored any.”
Online trolls and critics have become a stain on the game in the modern era with the access to players and coaches at its highest due to social media.
The level of vitriol last season pushed the Cowboys to launch a campaign against social media abuse that told fans if they weren’t willing to come into our house and say it, don’t say it online.
Retired Cowboys captain Michael Morgan doubled down on that sentiment this season after he slammed online abusers for targeting NRL players.
“I have seen, we finish our games and the first thing boys do is go online and read the comments on a Facebook post or Instagram post and see what people write,” Morgan told Triple M in March.
“To see what is being said about them and that is how they look at how people think they played. People judge someone on how they played by what they got in fantasy or if they got their multi right.
“It is so easy to post your opinion, go to a Facebook post and make a comment. It takes five seconds out and then you go on with your life. But those words can hurt people more than you think.”
For the record, according to Fox Sports Stats Lab, Feldt has scored a team-high 12 tries this season, but has conceded 27 errors (4th in the NRL), made 43 missed tackles (67th in the NRL) and conceded 11 penalties (10th in the NRL).
He also leads the Cowboys for tackle busts with 73 (20th in the NRL) and line breaks with 21 (5th in the NRL).
