It took just four Hostplus Cup games for Mitchell Leard-Lamont to catch the eye of the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Now Leard-Lamont, who joined the Western Clydesdales from Central Queensland Capras in September of last year, is a step closer to one day living out his NRL dream.

The Bulldogs lured Leard-Lamont from the Capras with the hard-running prop joining the Clydesdales as part of the NRL club’s partnership with the Garden City club.

Leard-Lamont hit the ground running in September and his hard pre-season work has paid off with the young star called into the Bulldogs NSW Cup side to face the North Sydney Bears this weekend.

“It’s a fantastic result for Mitchell,” Clydesdales boss Shane Sullivan said.

“He’s been training the house down since joining us in September for pre-season.

“He is great young talent and this is a just reward for his passion and dedication.

“It’s also a great testament to the work Jason Alchin and his coaching staff are doing at the club.”

Leard-Lamont joins the likes of Bud Smith and Melino Fineanganofo who have made the ‘move down south’ as part of the Clydesdales’ partnership with the NRL club.

“We wish Mitchell the best of luck in his game for the Bulldogs this weekend. It’s an exciting opportunity and time for him,” Sullivan said.

“This is the perfect example of how our partnership with the Bulldogs can and will continue to work for the benefit of everyone involved.

“We (the Clydesdales) have been able to add a great young player to our side, the Bulldogs can be confident he is in an environment where he can develop as a player and he is a step closer to his NRL dream.

“We do hope he comes back after this weekend – we’d certainly love to see him playing plenty of games for us.”
