Some of the biggest names in rugby league turned out as NRL SuperCoach took over iconic Luna Park Sydney and SEN’s Drive Home with Joel and Fletch.
SuperCoach ambassador Corey Parker, NRL legends Greg Alexander and Bryan Fletcher, Fox Sports presenter Lara Pitt, commentator Andrew Voss and former Tiger Joel Caine – plus 100 lucky SEN winners – were on hand for the festivities.
Parker has backed a rank outsider as his first player picked – Keano Kini.
He says the Titans fullback, only owned by 1.1 per cent of SuperCoaches, has been “hidden away” out of the spotlight on the Gold Coast but is ready to emerge this season.
“I’m emotionally attached to this one,” Parker said. “He’s an unbelievable talent, high workrate and has x-factor all about him.
“He’s the first player in for me.”
In terms of bargain buys, Parker can’t go past Broncos hooker Cory Paix.
“He’s trialled really well and there is a No. 9 spot up for grabs,” Parker said. “I think he might just have his nose in front.”
Parker is known as “God” in SuperCoach land for his incredible on-field exploits and revealed he once tried to use SuperCoach stats to bump up his contract price at the Broncos.
“I was off contract and I always represented myself for negotiations, I never had a manager during my career,” Parker said.
“I walked into Broncos HQ with my SuperCoach stats from the last year and said, ‘this is what people reckon I’m worth.’”.
