The teams have been announced for Round 12 of the NRL and there are plenty of changes.
Stand-in Dragons coach Ryan Carr has wielded the axe as he unveils his first Dragons team for Friday night’s clash with the Roosters.
Check out all the ins and outs below.
LOSERS
- Joey Manu CTW-5/8 $639,100 - Out with an ankle injury but could only miss one actual game given the Roosters have the bye next week. But the price and uncertainty of retaining his position in the halves upon return makes him a sell.
- Valynce Te Whare CTW $200,900 - We warned you. It was idiocy getting on last week when he was on the bye and had job security issues. Now he’s been dropped with Brenko Lee (hamstring) back.
- Max Feagai CTW $276,500 - Last week’s popular cheapie loses his spot to Zac Lomax, who has been immediately recalled by new Dragons coach Ryan Carr. Lomax now becomes a handy POD to cover Round 13, along with Jack Bird.
- Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Jackson Ford, Addin Fonua-Blake, Tohu Harris - The Warriors are on the bye this week but ideally holds as all cover next week’s tough Origin bye. Harris and Fonua-Blake in particular could be season-long keepers. On CNK, he has consecutive scores in the 40s so the sellers have clout. However, his workrate is still elite and he covers next week. Hold.
WINNERS
- Mitchell Moses HFB $688,100 - The popular bye purchase is back from concussion but has a tough match-up this week against Souths.
- Josh Schuster 5/8-2RF $271,200 - After a three-week hiatus to work on his fitness and attitude, the popular cheapie returns for Sea Eagles and should now cover Round 13.
BUY
- Billy Smith CTW $289,500 - By far the most popular purchase this week. The Roosters have been pretty darn horrible in attack and yet Smith is averaging 75PPG over the past two weeks. Averaging better than 40PPG in base and with a BE of -62, Smith is pretty much a must.
- Harrison Edwards FRF $297,100 - Best prop cheapie in a while after scoring 94 on the weekend. The Bulldogs youngster has been very impressive in his three games averaging 58PPG (46 in base) over 63 minutes per game. With a crazy low BE (-47) there is definite appeal. While job security is not great, it has improved in the last 24 hours with Franklin Pele copping a two-game ban in NSW Cup.
- Reuben Garrick CTW/FLB $576,100 - An injury and position swap saw Garrick’s price plunge to $540K heading into round 10. The Manly star has since posted scores of 83 and 90. He covers the Round 13 bye and is still a bargain at $576K. A genuine keeper at CTW and a definite buy option this week, but make sure you can cover him in Round 14.
- J’Maine Hopgood 2RF $660,600 and Ryan Matterson 2RF $704,600 - Both Eels backrowers are putting up genuine keeper numbers and while they looked to have decent job security already the unfortunate injury to Shaun Lane locks them in even better.
- Joseph Tapine FRF 2RF $619,400 - Starting to warm up right on schedule for those looking for a reliable DPP player who plays rounds 12-15. Good get.
HOLD
- Tom Trbojevic FLB $570,200 - Far from fully fit, those selling Turbo may regret it. The form is not great and he may be playing his way out of Origin selection. If that’s the case then Trbojevic is pure gold Round 13 cover.
- James Tedesco FLB $557,100 - Watching the great Teddy struggle is a truly sad sight. But we’re holding in the hope form is temporary and class permanent.
- Jarrod Croker CTW $430,500 – With a BE of 37, Croker has all but peaked at a $150,000 price rise. Under normal circumstances he’d be a sell but he’s an important extra number for next week’s bye, so hold strong and sell in Round 14.
SELL
- Zac Hosking 2RF $547,400 - Failed to return from a concussion last week and therefore played just 31 minutes. Doesn’t cover the big bye and Liam Martin’s return could mean curtains for one of the best buys this season.
AVOID
- Kalyn Ponga 5/8-FLB $484,900 - Had a blinder in Round 11 scoring 114 points (against the Titans) and an historical bargain at $484K. However, Ponga also scored just 16 points in round nine against the Eels, has a tough matchup against the Sharks this week then likely misses round 13 due to Origin and definitely misses round 14 due to a bye. Pass.
- Heilum Luki 2RF $523,400 - A little bit of point chasing here. Luki carved up the Dragons for 121 last week but he lacks the base to be a legitimate keeper and his round 13-16 draw (Eels, Storm, Bye, Panthers) is tough.
