SuperCoach NRL: What we learned from Sunday footy, Knights v Sharks, Raiders v Titans
Kalyn Ponga and the Newcastle Knights’ woes have continued in a meek showing against the Cronulla Sharks, while a Super POD has emerged at the Raiders.
Such a mixed day for SuperCoaches. We try to make sense of it below.
SUPERCOACH WINNERS
* Greg Marzhew (125) – A try, try assist and incredible EIGHTEEN tackle busts. In a side that got smashed. That’s SuperCoach gold.
* Mawene Hiroti (83) – A late try on top of some very strong base and power, including eight tackle busts and 19 runs.
* Addin Fonua-Blake (75) – And to think he was in doubt for this game. AFB was huge and scored a try.
* Hudson Young (128) – Two tries and officially the POD of the year. The other way of looking at it is that 96% of SuperCoaches – including yours truly – have got it wrong. The only consolation is that he likely plays Origin and will therefore miss round 12.
* Savelio Tamale (75) – A try, seven tackle busts and almost 20 runs. Tamale has initiated another price rise just when many sold.
* Allan Fitzgibbon (52) – How has he not played more NRL? Scored a try and had another disallowed to force his way into cheapie calculations.
SUPERCOACH LOSERS
* Kalyn Ponga (34) – Third straight score in the 30s and set for a huuuuge price drop.
* David Fifita and Jayden Campbell (DNP) – In case you were living under a rock, the Titans’ two most SuperCoach relevant players were ruled out pre-game. Fifita is out for four weeks with a hamstring injury. Campbell’s timeframe is yet to be confirmed but it’s rumoured to be up to eight weeks due to an ankle injury.
* Tom Starling (31) – Came up with the match-defining hit but his heroics didn’t translate to SuperCoach. Well below par compared to his season average of 65.
* Matty Nicholson (40) – First the good news: Nicholson played the full 80 minutes even with Zac Hosking back from injury. Now the bad: The workrate just wasn’t there. Potential sell in the coming week after peaking at a rise well over $200,000.
