NT Titans squads selected for under-15s boys and under-16s girls national championships

Junior standouts from across the NT have been selected to take part in the Titans squad in the upcoming junior national rugby league championships.
The NT under-15s boys and under-16s girls will head to Port Macquarie to compete in the ASSRL championships from June 27 to July 5.
NRL NT pathways manager Duncan MacGillivray said the groups had been selected off the back of a successful Territory junior championships held earlier this year.
The championships included a full team from Katherine, coached by under-18s players Kash Thomas and Nicholas Laurie, and provided the perfect setting for selection.
“It’s the first time we’ve put the group together off the back of the junior championships, we ran a really good trial process to make their local rep team,” he said.
“Based on that we made a decision on who would come into our 25 man squad, and combined that with our RISE program to give those others some insight into what it takes to be a rep player.
“We have a really healthy squad and on top of that we’ve also picked a couple of players from Katherine, Alice Springs and even Pine Creek so this is a Territory team, not just a Darwin one.”
The squad contains a real mix of players from across the Territory with Harry Bader from Katherine and Noah Po-Ching, who is at boarding school interstate, bringing some experience.
Declan Reynolds will bring his physicality and strong aggressive game to the squad, while Dallas Robertson continues to impress in the local league.
In the girls squad Maya Wauchope will be one to look for with her physicality, as will Emily Cogill, who has produced some big matches for the Litchfield Bears.
They also have some interstate borders including Nelly Robertson, who has gained plenty of experience in Cairns, and the talented Harmony Lacey.
“Everyone has stood up and is having a go and seems to be enjoying the experience,” MacGillivray said.
“We have the lowest number to pick from of any state, so we don’t have the same depth in talent but we do generally play above expectations.
“When we go out on these tournaments it’s all about putting our best foot forward and putting in the best effort over winning, which is an added bonus if we do.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how they get on, we’ve had a tough preparation phase focused on defence because that’s going to be our biggest challenge.”
