Emma Tonegato and Millie Boyle share joint NRLW Dally M Medal

Dragons fullback Emma Tonegato and Broncos prop Millie Boyle have made history by sharing the NRLW Dally M Medal.

Dragons fullback Emma Tonegato and Broncos prop Millie Boyle have been awarded joint winner of the NRLW Dally M Medal.

Boyle’s Broncos were bundled out in last week’s semi-finals, but Tonegato has been able to lead her team to the grand final after finishing minor premiers.

“Millie set a record for runs and run metres in the first game and Tonegato has just been in scintillating form for Jamie Soward’s Dragons,” Fox League’s Cooper Cronk said.

It is the first time in the competition’s history the NRLW has had joint winners of the competition’s premier individual award.

Coach of the Year

St George Illawarra’s Jamie Soward has claimed this season’s Coach of the Year after guiding the Red V to the NRLW grand final in his rookie year.

The Dragons have only suffered one loss this season and came close to claiming the minor premiership.

Captain of the Year

Titans hooker Brittany Breayey-Nati has claimed this season’s Captain of the Year award after leading her side to the semi-finals.

Breayley-Nati didn’t feature in the 2020 season but returned via the Titans alongside her wife, Kimora.

Breayley-Nati claimed the Dally M medal in 2018 and showed moments of that same form that earned her that honour.

Tackle of the Year

Dragons fullback Emma Tonegato’s brilliant try-saver on Jess Sergis in Round 5 has claimed this season’s Try of the Year.

Roosters centre Sergis looked sure to score as she sprinted down the sideline, but Tonegato came out of no where and not only chopped her down three metres out from the tryline but also took her over the sideline.

Dragons coach Jamie Soward said after the game that it was probably one of the best plays he’s ever seen.

Even Sergis acknowledged the tackle after she got up.

Try of the Year

Titans forward Shaniah Power has claimed this season’s Try of the Year award for her Round 4 effort against the Broncos.

The 25-year-old caught an offload off Kimora Breayley-Nati 11 metres out from line before beating five Broncos players — and the goal post — to score.
