Grand final catering staff at Accor Stadium have rushed in thousands of extra litres of XXXX Gold beer to meet the demand for an influx of Queensland fans at Sunday’s NRL decider.

The NRL estimates more than 10,000 Brisbane fans will descend on Sydney to cheer for the Broncos against the Penrith Panthers.

The battle of the beers in the grandstand between the interstate breweries will be just as intense as the on-field action.

More than 120,000 cups of beer are expected to be consumed at the grand final, with Accor Stadium’s catering team doubling the forecast consumption of XXXX Gold to go head-to-head with traditional NSW brand Hahn SuperDry 3.5.

An additional 6800 litres of XXXX will flow across the bars of Accor Stadium, according to general manager of catering Mark Adler.

“We have significantly increased our XXXX Gold order this week to meet the anticipated demand of Queensland fans,” he said.

“We have used the 2015 grand final as a guide when Queenslanders drank us dry of XXXX Gold when the Broncos played the Cowboys.

Extra cases of XXXX have been delivered to Accor Stadium ahead of the grand final.

“We expect to sell upwards of 120,000 cups of beer (425ml per cup) with Hahn SuperDry 3.5 and XXXX Gold accounting for almost half the total consumption as the two most popular beers in the general public areas.”

There will be 60 bars at the 85,000-seat stadium selling beer for the match, which sold out on Tuesday afternoon.

The weather bureau is forecasting the hottest grand final day in years with a maximum temperature of 36C at Sydney Olympic Park. The demand for drinks is expected to be at an all-time high.

Accor Stadium has also significantly bumped up water and soft drinks supplies.

An army of 2700 staff will be working at the stadium, covering everything from

catering and hospitality, customer service, venue management, ticketing, security, staffing, merchandise, contractors, medical, cleaning and more.

NSW Police have advised fans to be prepared for a hot day and to drink responsibly, warning that intoxication and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

A stadium spokesman said: “We urge fans to take advantage of the fact that all tickets include travel to and from Olympic Park on public transport, including Sydney Trains and major event buses.

“If fans intend to drive, they should pre-book parking as parking stations in Sydney Olympic Park will fill quickly.”

Celebrity chef Matt Moran, Accor Stadium’s Culinary Ambassador, will curate the menus in all Premium Experience areas of the Stadium on grand final day, while footy favourites will be available at all food outlets inside Accor Stadium.
