Pioneering Channel 7 journalist Michelle Bishop has vacated her role as chief rugby league reporter – with a fresh signing set to step into an increased role.

Channel 7’s Michelle Bishop has vacated her role as chief rugby league reporter.
Bishop and station executives met on Wednesday before both parties amicably agreed to split.
Her departure is expected to be formally announced shortly.
Jelisa Apps, who recently joined 7 from Network 10, is expected to increase her role covering rugby league on the network’s 6pm news bulletin.
Bishop became the first woman at a commercial television station to be given the ‘chief rugby league reporter’ title.
Friends claim Bishop feels she has “achieved as much as she can at 7.”
This masthead reached out to Bishop but she was not commenting.
Bishop will remain with 7 working on Sunrise while also continuing her role as a rugby league reporter on SEN radio.
