With Cleary recovering from off-season shoulder surgery and Fowler getting breaks at times from her football commitments, the duo appears to relish every opportunity to hang out.

Fowler, who has been starring for Manchester City, made the call to sit out the Matildas’ recent friendlies with Brazil and Taiwan to focus on her mental health.

The 21-year-old returned to England and has been in superb form for her club, converting a penalty in a 2-1 loss to Everton on Sunday and scoring another goal in a 4-0 rout of Leicester City on December 9.

Cleary and Fowler have still managed a romantic getaway, with mystery surrounding when the couple found the time.

The Panthers halfback posted a series of photos of their trip to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

The pix include a bush walk, a gorgeous sunset and a stop at a lookout reportedly over Tallebudgera Creek.

Cleary used the caption “Charging the batteries” on the set of photos and videos, with Fowler commenting “Hi handsome” along with a love letter emoji.

Earlier this month, Cleary said he’s ahead of schedule after returning to training just five weeks after his surgery, hoping to develop a relationship with new recruit Blaize Talagi as the Panthers plot a path to what would be a staggering fifth-straight NRL premiership.

It came as the 27-year-old revealed the extreme measures he is taking while away from Fowler.

Talagi, who crossed to the reigning champions from Parramatta, looms as the replacement in the halves for Jarome Luai, the latest in a lengthy line of premiership winners who have left in recent seasons.

Both Talagi and superstar Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards have also had shoulder surgery in the off-season, but all could be available for their first game in Las Vegas.

Four-time premiership winner Cleary was with teammates for a visit to Nepean Hospital to spread some Christmas cheer, with the locals stoked to see their main man looking so good just weeks after major surgery.

“It’s pretty much a three or four month recovery so it’s been good so far. I came back to training and it’s been good so far,” Cleary told NewsWire.

“I’m slowly ticking the boxes and then it’ll start ramping up after Christmas. I’m a little bit ahead of schedule which is cool.

“There are a few guys at the club who have come back from shoulder surgery and everyone is doing really well. We’re all progressing well together.”

Cleary hasn’t been able to do full contact or major ball work, with the champion playmaker set to spend the pre-season building a relationship with 19-year-old Talagi.

Last month, Cleary and Fowler happily shared photos from their European holiday together.

The adored couple had a romantic getaway that had fans feeling all warm and fuzzy as they frolicked across Europe.

Like most people returning to their day jobs after time away, the couple showed how much they are missing the holiday buzz by going through the cathartic exercise of flicking through photos from their adventures.

Intimate photos shared by the Manchester City ace told fans all they need to know about their fairy tale romance — more than 12 months after the couple began seeing each other.

The sporting power couple’s photo drop showed them in the UK together where they attended the Super League Grand Final in Manchester.

After Cleary’s starring performance in the Panthers’ 2024 NRL Grand Final victory, he was given permission to delay shoulder surgery in order to spend time away with Fowler overseas.

They made good use of the time available.

The couple shared photos of them hiking the Swiss Alps and relaxing on beaches in Europe.

One of Fowler’s posts also showed the couple layered up together in warm coats at a seaside location.

Another delightfully dorky photo showed the pair getting creative with some paint brushes together.

Cleary was left looking mortified by his unique interpretation of Fowler as the pair painted pictures of each other.

“Aren’t you just so happy that you found an artistic boyfriend?” Cleary responded adding paint palette emoji.

The gallery was captioned with a smiley face emoji.

She also responded to Cleary, writing: “Mems (memories) for a lifetime”.
