DARWIN Brothers are hunting consistency and their first win ahead of their encounter with South Darwin in Round 4 of the 2020 NRL NT A-grade premiership at Territory Rugby League Stadium tonight.

Brothers fought hard to gain an edge on Nightcliff last round, but lapses in defence and decision-making let the side down with the scoreboard ending in a 26-all draw.

Now they face an ailing Rabbitohs outfit in the hunt for gaining some form, but coach Leon Cleal knows not to underestimate the South Darwin side.

“It was a game of lost opportunities for us (against Dragons) and that’s been a focus for us to capitalise on opportunities when we have them,” Cleal told the NT News.

“Souths have been on and off but they will be competitive. They can always turn it up when they need to and have a good, solid running game with some solid scramblers.

“We also have a few injuries to some of our core players, including Daniel Warren, Thomas Clarke and Jonas Niki, which will mean we will have some replacements there.”

In replacement, game time will be given to returning club stalwart Leon Rotumah and a debut to St Mary’s NTFL young gun Nick Yarran at halfback.

Cleal also expects another big turnout from under-18s fullback Isaac Kurnoth, who enjoyed a big game against Nightcliff scoring a 60m solo try.

“We have a couple of guys coming in who will be looking for some game time. I don’t expect them to be standouts first game back but will be interested in how they perform,” Cleal said.

“They’re always in the game come halftime so we’re going to need to keep our focus but more than anything is that consistency.

“We can’t get caught up in their game. We have to be consistently competitive in what we do and how we do it.”

Meanwhile, reigning premiers Litchfield Bears will take on Northern Sharks at Webber Park, and will be looking for a strong performance after narrowly losing to Raiders last round.
