The Manly Sea Eagles have unveiled Anthony Seibold as their new head coach, signing a three-year deal beginning in 2023.

The former Rabbitohs and Broncos boss will take the reigns following a turbulent year for the Brookvale-based club which saw Des Hasler sacked in the wake of the pride jersey saga.

Seibold previously worked as an assistant coach at the Sea Eagles in 2016 before taking the head coach role at South Sydney, guiding the side to a third-placed finish.

The 48-year-old made the move to the Broncos in 2019 but lasted less than two years of his mammoth five-year deal.

The 2018 Dally M Coach of the Year now makes an NRL return after a stint with the English rugby union team, alongside Shane Flanagan and Jim Dymock as assistant coaches.

Sea Eagles chief executive Tony Mestrov backed the trio to return the club into the premiership race.

“Anthony has an incredible knowledge of the game and what is required at the highest level,’’ Mestrov said in a club statement.

“We believe Anthony is the ideal person to lead this very talented and strong playing group to achieve success in the years ahead.

“Shane brings a wealth of experience to the club and has a great understanding of the pressure and demands associated with the NRL. He will be invaluable to Anthony and the Sea Eagles.

“Jim has an enormous amount of respect across the NRL, both as a former player and as a coach. He knows what needs to be done, having represented NSW, Australia and Tonga. He is also a Clive Churchill Medal winner.

“We welcome Anthony, Shane and Jim to the Sea Eagles. There is plenty of exciting times ahead at Manly.”

Flanagan coached the Sharks for eight seasons, but was banned from coaching in 2014 due to the club’s supplements scandal.

He returned in 2015 winning the Sharks’ maiden title the following season, but was deregistered indefinitely in 2018 after failing to adhere to the conditions of his 2014 ban.

Flanagan was allowed to return to the NRL as an assistant and defence coach in 2019 and worked under Paul McGregor at the Dragons, before he was sacked when Anthony Griffin was brought in as coach.

Flanagan has been working as the Dragons list management consultant since 2021, while Dymock was sacked as Titans assist in July after a three year stint on the Gold Coast.
