‘Name and shame’: Neighbour slams ‘entitled’ Nick Kyrgios’ rude parking habit

Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios has sparked a neighbourhood war, with one “entitled” parking habit infuriating nearby residents.

Neighbour slams ‘entitled’ Nick Kyrgios’ rude parking habit

Tennis champ Nick Kyrgios has responded after he was shamed by a furious neighbour who has hit out at his “entitled” parking habit.

Taking to Facebook, a resident of the inner Sydney suburb of Zetland shared a snap of Kyrgios’ distinctive, lime green Tesla Model X car parked on a street, claiming it was parked “almost nightly” in a marked car share zone.

While he didn’t mention Kyrgios by name, the neighbour heavily implied the sporting icon was the culprit, and it didn’t take long before other Facebook users figured it out.

“Looking for some advice here, it’s a tricky one, we have a car share allocated spot right out the front of our apartment building,” the neighbour began in the post, which was accompanied by a series of pictures of the vehicle.

“Recently a very well known famous and quite notorious tennis player has decided that he is somehow entitled to park in it with his own vehicle.

“I don’t want to name and shame the guy but he’s very famous and parks in this car share space almost nightly, meaning that anybody that has a Go Get or Car Next Door vehicle has no option to park there, as you can see the other night our friends had to park their Car Next Door vehicle illegally behind him as he had parked his car in the dedicated car share space?”

The neighbour continued by asking other residents what they believed was the “right thing to do”.

“Should I just let this guy go because he’s an elite athlete?” the neighbour asked.

“Not that a $400 fines (sic) going to impact his bank account by any means, but it’s more based on principle and setting a good example.

“Especially when car share is all about minimising pollution, traffic and congestion.

“No doubt I’ll get a few trolls on here but I just thought it a reasonable question to put forward on this group.”

If there was any remaining doubt about who the neighbour was referring to, it ended with a comment from Kyrgios’ partner Costeen Hatzi’s sister.

Kyrgios and Hatzi, 21, went public with their relationship in December, and last month he sparked engagement rumours after sharing a photo on Instagram of the couple that included emojis showing a diamond ring and a love heart.

A potential engagement may help to explain Hatzi’s sister Mary’s willingness to jump to Kyrgios’ defence as the Facebook debate heated up.

“Hey all, to be fair, he didn’t realise it was a car share spot,” she chimed as the scandal grew.

“He parked there to allow other car spots for those who can’t find parking in the area.

“Nick understands and will move his car. Thank you for all your kind messages.”

However, Kyrgios did have some defenders in the comments.

“WOW a lot of angry vicious people in Zetland. There are any number of people parking illegally in the area. Don’t see this kind of vitriol directed at them?” one person wrote.

Kyrgios responded to the backlash on Instagram, sharing a slip to the social media platform on Wednesday afternoon.

“I’ve parked in the right spot, I’ve made amends,” he said in the clip.

“Sorry for my inconvenient parking for one day, I’ve parked in the right spot. We’re in the middle of an NRL season guys so let’s talk about other sporting athletes, not where I’m parking … it’s all good now.”

The latest furore comes just weeks after Kyrgios made headlines after revealing the vile messages and death threats he received on social media following his loss in the semi-finals at Houston last month.

A spokesman for Mr Kyrgios has been contacted for comment.
