The NTI Townsville 500 is in for a major shake-up this year with Supercars set to announce a rejigged and re-energised entertainment extravaganza later this week.

North Queensland’s biggest motorsports event will have a uniquely country flavour when an army of V8 engines roll into Townsville in July for one of the regional legs of the national Supercars circuit.

Late last year Townsville was officially green-lit to host the event for at least the next three years, but organisers have still sought to improve the attractiveness of the already popular event with some exciting changes.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard hinted at what could be in store for 2025 while keeping some of his cards close to his chest.

“We’ve been working on something really special for this year’s NTI Townsville 500, and I think fans are going to love it,” Howard said.

“This event has always been a highlight on the Supercars calendar, but in 2025, we’re taking things to a whole new level.

“We know North Queensland loves its motorsport, but this year, we’re making sure there’s something for everyone – whether you’re here for the racing, the entertainment, or just a great weekend out with family and friends.

“We’ll have more to say this week, but what I can tell you is that from the moment gates open in the morning to late into the night, fans are in for an unforgettable experience.”

It is understood that Supercars will introduce never-before-seen initiatives that celebrate North Queensland’s culture while providing entertainment that can be enjoyed by everyone from motorsports diehards to the newest fans.

More information is set to be revealed later this week.
