Aussie MotoGP star Jack Miller has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is set to return to Ducati after a ruthless U-turn by KTM management.

The Queenslander said he had “some good options” amid rumours he was on verge of signing with the satellite Gresini Ducati team.

“We have a good relationship with them, with Gigi (Dall’Igna) and Claudio (CEO Domenicali) and all the guys over at Ducati.’’

Miller spent five years with Ducati, from 2018 to 2022, and recorded his best season there – fourth in 2021 when with the factory team.

He also revealed that KTM had told him “don’t talk to anybody” but was then told he wasn’t wanted as the management opted to sign to star rookie Pedro Acosta.

“I was surprised, because last I heard was ‘don’t bother talking to anybody because we want to keep you in the family’ and then you get a phone call three hours before the press release gets launched saying that you’re not getting a contract,” Miller said.

“So, yeah, I was surprised. To say the least. But it is what it is. But as I said to them, I didn’t come to this project to be in and out in two years.’’

Miller’s time at KTM started brightly last year but has struggled for consistency and is now 16th in the 2024 standings going into the Dutch TT round this weekend.

Miller says he has always kept good relationships in the MotoGP paddock.

The popular 29-year-old said he had always maintained good relationships in the paddock.

“It’s a good lesson for all those kids out there – don’t go burning bridges when you walk away from something, because you never know when you’re going to need people.’’

Miller was the subject of strong rumours he would move to Gresini to join Alex Marquez after brother and six-time MotoGP champion Marc signed for the factory Ducati outfit.

Miller’s best result this year was fifth in the Portuguese round at Portimao in March and his last victory was back in September 2022 when he won the Japanese GP at Motegi.
