Former Darwin Buffalo Jed Anderson has been given a second chance in the AFL after being picked up by the Gold Coast Suns.
The experienced midfielder was delisted by North Melbourne after a seven-year stint in which he played 89 games.
Anderson also played 10 games with Hawthorn from 2013-15 before joining the Kangaroos.
But now the 28-year-old has earned himself another chance after training with the Gold Coast through the pre-season, and joining through the AFL’s supplementary selection period.
His Suns debut will also mark his 100th AFL game.
Suns Player Talent and Strategy general manager Craig Cameron said the club was pleased to add a talented player with experience to their list.
“After a successful trade and draft period, we felt it was important to complement our list with some experience, and Jed offers that with 10 years in the AFL,” Cameron said.
“Jed can play as a tough inside midfielder but also has the skillset to play forward which we found appealing.
“We’re excited by what Jed can bring to our group and look forward to seeing him in action throughout pre-season.”
The Katherine-born Anderson joins a strong contingent of Territorians at the Suns including Joel Jeffrey, Malcolm Rosas Jr, Sandy Brock, Ben Long and most recently Lloyd Johnston.
He follows 2022 signing James Tsitas, who previously played for NTFL clubs Nightcliff and Southern Districts, in joining the club through the supplementary selection period.
